

So just a couple of titles that I remember very fondly would be: Replying to dragonh89 I don't know if I can give really a top 10 for these, but I quite enjoy them. I'm sure I'd be singing praises to Hollow Knight if I had gotten around to it by this point, but unluckily it's still buried in my backlog.Will play it eventually. I'm way more into the 'Vania' side of the 'Metroidvania', but I digress. Those are the ones that I can come up from the top of my head. It has pretty interesting time mechanics that I haven't seen executed so well in the genre, and it can be really challenging if not taken seriously. Touhou Luna Nights is one I played earlier this year, and it suprised me with how good it was.


It has one or two very questionable decisions, but I adored it all the way through. That one is much more simple than most, but it nails what it wants to do. Momodora: Reverie under the Moonlight is another one that holds a special place in my heart. I quote a particular phrase from it to this day for how funny it was to me at the time, and I think it's still a pretty good game. However, mechanically it's still pretty fun when you get more and more used to the moveset, and it can be very charming. Art doesn't have the same impact anymore, and I'd now consider it kinda average. But I love it and I've replayed it many many times.ĭust: An Elysian Tail was fantastic for the time, and was the first indie game for which I went "Wow.This is gorgeous". It's a great game, but the nostalgia factor doesn't let me really gauge how good or bad it aged.
